CURRENT PLAY : JEHAAD

Poster of "Jehaad" to be staged for the first time in New Delhi on February this year.

"Jehaad" the title brings to the fore pictures of some religious fanatics but this Jehaad is the story of those people about whom has been written by the likes of Premchand also but those books are appreciated and remembered and are preserved to only adorn the places of pride in our library. The pathetic pictures of the struggle of these people grace the walls of some art exhibition or can be found in some glossy, expensive coffee table books, the cost of which can maybe fetch a poor farmer a handful of seeds for his miniscule land which feeds his family.
This drama may also catch your attention, a flutter of sympathy may quicken your heartbeats, your mind may be racing as to how you can help and But friends, and have existed in every age and generation. Names may change, states, scenario may vary but the poor land owners may sacrifice their livelihood in the name of development, economic stability, etc. Development of the nation will eat up all the agricultural land one day. Man will lose his bond with Mother Earth. The divide between the Have and Have-nots will widen because the rich will still be able to import grains and live but the poor farmer who provided grains to so many unknown stomachs irrespective of caste, creed, will starve.
